Wendy Jessup

Wendy Jessup trained in Biochemistry at Manchester and Sheffield Universities. She is currently Leader of the Macrophage Biology Group in the Centre for Vascular Research at the University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia and is a Principal Research Fellow of the National Health and Medical Research Council of Australia. Her main research interest is the role of macrophage foam cells in atherosclerosis and the mechanisms involved in their formation. Specific interests include cell cholesterol traffic and metabolism, the role of cholesterol in membrane structure and function, membrane cholesterol transporters and the metabolism of lipid oxidation products (especially oxysterols) in atherosclerosis and their influence on macrophage foam cell formation and physiology.
